    Is he assuming Jacob and Esau were circumcised? I don’t know of a text in the Bible that says they were.

      As for your objection: Even if there are no text stating that Jacob and Esau were circumcised, nevertheless it is logical to assume that they were. God reaffirmed his covenant with Isaac in Gen 26:4 and we see Jacob’s sons were circumcised because this was one of the stipulations that Levi and Simeon gave Hamor and Shechem after Shechem defiled their sister Dinah and before they slaughtered them in Gen 34:14. So if Jacob’s sons were circumcised, then it is safe to assume that Jacob also was circumcised.
