The Glory of a True Church- Of Scandalous Persons guilty of gross Acts of Immorality

Of Scandalous Persons guilty of gross Acts of Immorality

If any Member fall into any gross Acts of Sin, as Swearing, Lying, Drunken ness, Fornication, Covetousness, Extortion, or the like, and it is known and publickly spread abroad to the great scandal and reproach of Religion, and of the Holy Name of God, his Church, and People; the said Offender so charged, the Church must send one or two Brethren to him to come before the Congregation: if he will not come, but doth fight and contemn the Authority of the Church, that will bring farther Guilt upon him, for which Offence he incurs the Censure before-mentioned. But if he doth appear, his Charge is to be laid before him, and the Witnesses called; and after he has made his Defence, and said all he hath to say, and the Congregation finds him Guilty, then the same Censure is to pass upon him, to the end he may be brought to unfeigned Repentance, and the Name of God cleared; and some time must be taken to make it appear that he hath true Repentance, by the Reformation of his Life and holy walking afterwards, before he be received again, and the Censure of the Church in a solemn manner be taken off.

Dr. Chauncy puts this Question,

Quest. ‘How is a Church to proceed in case of open and notorious Scandals?’

The Answer is, ‘the matter of Fact, as such, being beyond all question; the Church is to proceed immediately to censure, to vindicate the Honour of Christ and his Church, and to manifest to the World their just Indignation against such Notorious Offenders, and wait for a well-grounded and tryed Evidence of his true Repentance under that Ordinance of Christ which is appointed to that end.’67

Observe, It is the opinion of the Doctor, that tho the Person be penitent, yet because his Sin is open and scandalous, he ought to be cast out to vindicate the Honour of Christ and the Church, as part of his just Punishment (that being one reason of the Ordinance of Excommunication) as well as to bring the Person to thorough Repentance; and we are of his Mind. Paul takes no notice in the case of the Incestuous Person of his immediate Repentance; or if he repent not, then, &c. But says he, deliver such a one to Satan, &c. Saith the Lord, if her Father had but spit in her Face, should she not be ashamed seven Days? Let her be shut out from the Camp Seven Days: (speaking of Miriam) and after that let her be received in again.68

We judge sin by our acts, God judges the heart

You are, whether you know it or not, a lost sinner, and that in the strongest sense of the term. Men judge of sin only by its open acts, but God looketh directly at the heart. Their censures fall only on particular branches of immorality, which strike immediately at the well-being of society; but God views the root of the mischief, and takes into consideration all its mischievous bearings. “Know thou, therefore, and consider, that it is an evil thing and bitter that thou hast done; that thou hast departed from the living God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord of Hosts.”

Rev. Andrew Fuller–The Great Question Answered

Do Charismatics have a Specific Bible Commentator they Use?

It is really hard to define what Charismatics believe because they have no set beliefs that have been embedded in a creed, confession, or statement of faith. I am not saying that there are not several Charismatic denominations which have not put out some kind of small statement of what they believe the scriptures to teach; nevertheless, for the more part, Charismatic beliefs vary from Church to Church.

One of the main sources where Charismatics get their false views is from a Bible called ‘The Dake’s Annotated Bible.” Finis Jennings Dake was the compiler of all the notes and commentary that is prevalent in this annotated Bible.

Finis Jennings Dake was born in 1902 and died in 1987. He claimed that upon receiving conversion that he was able to quote thousands of scriptures, even though he had never once read the Bible. I want to say that there has never been any person in the history of the world who has ever received such a gift. God does not bypass our intellect when he works through us.

What most Charismatics do not know is that Finis Dake is not far removed from the Charismatics of today when it comes to gross and immoral sins. Finis Dake served six months in jail in 1937 because he had plead guilty to having sex with a sixteen year old girl, of whom he registered at a motel with, feigning to be husband and wife.

The doctrines taught in the Dake’s Bible are being used by Kenneth Hagen, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch, and a host of others through the TBN network. These doctrines have more to do with occultic beliefs such as those put forth by Mormons.

I will retire from speaking for now and leave you to the article:

The Dake’s Bible and Confused Charismatic Theology by Joseph Chambers

This quote from Dake’s Bible is the very first New Testament note in the edition that I have owned since the early seventies. The edition I am quoting from is the sixth printing, December 1971.“Gr. Christos, ‘Anointed.’ – Used in N.T. 577 times. Like the name “Jesus” it has no reference to deity, but to the humanity of the Son of God, who became the Christ or the “Anointed One” 30 years after He was born of Mary. God “made” Him both Lord and Christ. The Heb. Is ‘Messiah’.” (Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible, Finis Jennings Dake, published by Dake Bible Sales, Inc, Lawrenceville, Georgia, New Testament, p. 1.)No Biblically solid minister or Bible student would accept the quote above. It is rank heresy and must be totally rejected or our view of Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God is compromised. To suggest that Jesus became the Christ or the “Anointed One” thirty years after His birth is to commit heresy. This is an ancient heresy that is called “adoptionism.” Kenneth Scott Latourette stated in his book, History of Christianity, Volume I, the following:

Paula White Breaks Silence

Paula White Breaks Silence on Probes, divorce, and Benny Hinn Via (Christain Post.com)

Here is an example of the deceptive Charismatics of today. All one has to do is examine the doctrines and life styles of the Charismatic leaders to see if they are orthodox or not. Paula White says that she is back from her fall into gross immorality, yet her doctrine has not changed and therefore she is still teaching heresy.

Pastor Paula White broke her silence Thursday night, addressing all the scandals that she has been associated with since her divorce in 2007……..I’m not here to look cute … I came to let the devil know … I’m stronger than I’ve ever been………….I came to put every devil on notice … I’m getting my dream back, I’m getting my prophesy back, I’m getting my vision back, I’m getting my anointing back, I’m getting my strength back.”
